It\u2019s a great way to practice your skills while creating something unique and cheerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Materials<\/strong><br>Worsted-weight yarn<br>Crochet hook\u00a0size 4.5mm<br>Fiberfill<br>Tapestry needle<br>Scissors<br>8mm safety eyes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ABBREVIATIONS (US Crochet Terms)<\/strong><br>st(s): stitch(es)<br>sl st: slip stitch<br>MR: Magic Ring<br>ch: chain<br>sc: single crochet<br>R: Round<br>[#]: number of stitch(es) in a round<br>inc: increase (make 2 sc in the same space)<br>dec: decrease (combining two stitches into one)<br><strong>Use Invisible Decrease<\/strong>\u00a0for better result. Using invisible decrease (dec) instead of sc2tog is recommended when making amigurumi; you can\u2019t even tell that the stitches are decreasing.\u00a0<em>To do Invisible Decrease, insert hook through front loop of the first stitch, then through the front loop of the next stitch (3 loops on hook).\u00a0<br>Yarn\u00a0over and draw through the first two loops on the hook (2 loops on hook now). Yarn over and draw through both loops on the hook. Invisible decrease completed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Notes<\/strong><br>This pattern is worked continuously in the round. Remember to place a stitch marker in the first stitch of every round.<br><br><strong>Pattern<\/strong><br>Start from the top of the head. <br>R1: in a MR, ch 1, then sc 6 [total 6 sts]<br>R2: inc x6 [12 sts]<br>R3: (sc, inc) x6 [18 sts]<br>R4: (sc, sc, inc) x6 [24 sts]<br>R5: (sc, sc, sc, inc) x6 [30 sts]<br>R6-9: sc in each stitch around [30 sts]<br>Close round 9 with slip stitch. Chain 1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>R10-13 (working in the BLO\/back-loops only)<br><\/strong>R10:  (sc, sc, sc, dec) x6 [24 sts]. <em>Don&#8217;t forget to mark the first stitch of this round with a stitch marker.<\/em><br><strong>Install eyes<\/strong>: <em>From the stitch marker, count 7 stitches to the right and 2 stitches upward. Insert a safety eye there. Then, count 7 stitches to the right and insert the second safety eye.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">R11:  (sc, sc, dec) x6 [18 sts]<br>R12: (sc, dec) x6 [12 sts]<br>R13: dec x6 [6 sts]<br>Close it with sl st.<br>Don&#8217;t cut the yarn.<br><br><strong>Pattern for the tentacles<\/strong><br>Chain 18. Starting from the second chain from the hook, slip stitch into each chain across.
