Here’s a simple pattern for crocheting a flower.
Materials you’ll need:
- Any yarn you like, preferably medium weight
- A crochet hook that matches your yarn
ABBREVIATIONS (US Crochet Terms)
st(s): stitch(es)
sl st: slip stitch
MR: Magic Ring
R: Round
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
hdc: half-double crochet
dc: double crochet
Here’s how you make it:
- Start with a MR (or just chain 4 and join it with a slip stitch to make a ring).
- R1: Ch 2 (counts as the first dc). Then make 9 more dc into the ring. Join with a sl st to the top of the first ch 2. You’ll have 10 dc in total.
- R2: Ch 3, skip 1 st, then sl st into the next stitch. Keep doing that around. You’ll end up with 5 ch-3 loops.
- R3: In each of those ch-3 loops, do this: sl st, sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc, sl st. Repeat that in each loop around.
- Finish off and weave in the ends.
Feel free to play around with different colors and hook sizes to make it your own! Happy crocheting!
